Ayla Gottschlich was born and raised in Berlin. After Highschool she worked two years in different film companies, In 2004 Ayla shot her first documentary, that brought her into the film school Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg. After successfully graduating in 2010 Ayla shot her debut “The Mandate”, in cooperation with the TV Channel SWR and funded by the MFG Baden-Wuerttemberg. In 2011 Ayla was scholarship holder at the Academy of Arts in Berlin in the „Film-Art“ section.
Ayla is one of the four founders of the film production company Soilfilms. Together with her partners she produces and directs commercials, documentaries and fiction films.
Her recent feature documentary “Chronicle of a Revolt – One Year Istanbul”, about the uprising of democracy movement in Turkey, celebrated its premiere at the Festival do Rio and was broadcasted several times in German TV.
